Arezoo Talebzadeh is a senior architect and a soundscape researcher completing her Ph.D. at Ghent University, Belgium. She has a master’s in Architecture from Azad University, Tehran, Iran and a master’s in Design for Health from OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design) University, Toronto, Canada.
As an architect, she works on Long-Term Care, Retirement Home and Senior Housing projects in Toronto. She is also a sessional instructor at OCAD University, teaching various courses at grad school in Inclusive Design and Design for Health programs.
Her design focuses on people’s perception of space and how architecture can promote health and well-being while fostering diversity, inclusion and promoting agency. Arezoo’s research focuses on sensory stimuli, especially sound, when designing for people with cognitive difficulties and dementia—examining how an augmented soundscape can help people sense time and space and how acoustical agency fosters the quality of life in care facilities.
